A long haul

As Monty Slocombe has pointed out in his usual courteous and understated way, there has been little blogging on this site over the last few days.  Primarily, this has been due to a significant increase in my workload; I thought an MP’s life was busy, which it is, but ministerial duties have taken that workload up another gear still.

Sadly, therefore, I have to conclude that light blogging is likely to be the rule, rather than the exception, for the foreseeable future.  My profuse apologies to my readers, but there we are.  I’m sure you’ll understand.

A second reason for the lack of blogging has been the fact that we have just moved house – a significantly harrowing experience, bedevilled and delayed by all sorts of hiccups.

The move itself took place on Friday.  We said goodbye to the old family house, loaded our worldly possessions in a couple of vans and headed two miles eastward, over the next hill but one.  There we disgorged the same possessions and settled down to a summer in which we will be sharing our new home with builders, electricians, heating engineers and decorators.

It will be a long haul, but I’m sure it will be worth it.

Having lived with builders, electricians’ plumbers and glaziers over the last year you have my sympathy.

Now if we could just install the floorboards in the barn renovation here there could be light at the end of the tunnel!

  2. Best wishes in your new home

Of course we understand your situation David, and forgive you. I just feel that in your absence others might comment on the Conservative Party ship’s progress during her maiden voyage in order to give a little support. I am changing my opinion of Captain Cameron. He seems to be all set to tidy the ship up in a seaman like manner. I want to add my puff of wind to his sails to keep him on a course which will lead us to a country fit for my grandchildren as adults. There will be storms ahead. Let’s hope Captain Cameron and midshipman Clegg can control the crew during this difficult voyage.

By the way, I’d still like to know if there is a plan “B” in case the captain gets blown overboard or something, and midshipman Clegg has to take the wheel ? A 1 at Lloyds doesn’t have the prestige it once possessed in case of loss at sea.

  4. Good luck with the move. I hope you carry on blogging though as I view this as an important insight into our governemnt.

George hopes David Jones continues blogging. No reason why the rest shouldn’t carry on blogging is there ? I’m sure our M.P. will agree that communication is a two way process. He is after all in a position to perhaps implement sane suggestions now that most of the lunatics have been cleared out of the corridors of power.

  6. Moving 2 miles to the east … Getting a bit close to England, aren’t you.

Don’t forget to claim for ALL your houses. ;_)
