A brief housekeeping note: as many readers will be aware, I have called a meeting at 6.00 pm tomorrow (Friday) to discuss the future of Colwyn Bay pier.
This has generated considerable interest, and other bloggers have been encouraging people to attend.
However, the venue, Colwyn Bay town hall, is quite small and if people do not register their intention to attend, they may find, unfortunately, that they are turned away.
If you do wish to come, you will be very welcome, but please e-mail my office at owenj at parliament.uk to let us know. Space is now very limited indeed, so please contact us as soon as possible.

We’re going to have to make room somehow – from the feedback I’ve got, there could be hundreds (literally) turn up.
Might be worth a call to see if St Paul’s Church Hall (opposite the town hall) is free?
I’ve been interviewed today by ITV Wales (should be on the evening news tonight) and BBC Radio Wales (should be on the news bulletins in the morning)
See you there!
Fully support any sensible initiative to Retain and Restore the Pier. It is unthinkable that Conwy CBC will be allowed to oversee the demise of this essential feature in the re-invigoration of the sea front. We lost Rhos on Sea Pier a good while back. Common sense must prevail. As long as Conwy CBC have nothing to do with the matter the Pier will live and prosper for another century. God willing. Pity that N-power renewables were not held responsible for its funding as part of the off-shore blight they are putting on the bay outlook?
See you there then!
We could always hold the meeting on the beach.
We could have held the meeting on the ruddy pier if CCBC would sort the legal mess out they created!
Back in the good ol’ days, all sorts of public meetings, functions and the like were held there – it is the perfect place for the job! 500 odd parking spaces on the prom, a minutes walk from town centre, and could not be closer to the railway station…

I am sorry I could not ettend the meeting on 22nd
I was sufferinmg from an allergic reaction and was taken to hospital that evening, from what I have seen of the plans for the seafront developement they intend doing away with the sea wall, we all know that was built to stop erosion, the new plan is completely non sensesicle, why not scrap the idea and spend the money on our pier I dont know what planet these people are on, the sea will wash it all away if this new idea goes ahead.
CCBC have done a good job so far in the continuing demise of Colwyn Bay. They have allowed the most hideous apartment blocks to be built with no thought of conserving the Victorian
Heritage the “Blocks” have replaced.
If we allow them to demolish the pier what will Colwyn Bay have to offer the holiday maker,or residents, the little train has gone, the chalets have gone,Dinasuar world gone but we must not forget in these times of recession that they spent a small fortune on hideously coloured paviours in Station Road which does not get the foot fall that was anticipated from residents and certainly not holiday makers.
Keep the Pier at all cost we need it, why can’t we adopt parts of the pier. I would sooner my family was remembered for sponsering a panel of the Victorian balustrade than a plaque in the cemetary and hopefully businesses could do like wise. sponsering happens in the States on the highways so why not here.
