Tough call

According to the Sunday Times, Lord Mandelson has disclosed that he is ready to accept a job under a future Conservative government.

Peter Hain, however, says that he would never do so.

It’s hard to know what to be more grateful for.

One Response to Tough call

  1. Mandleson just about sums up modern politics. Conviction has all but vanished. A New Labour (remember, the party that erased clause 4, the whole meaning of real Labour?) now indicates he would serve under a Conservative. Just what devious logic can move someone from a clause 4 Labourite to working for a Conservative government? Does this not illustrate the attitude of a person who is in politics just for his own benefit, a job for life and at our cost? At least we know where the odious Peter Hain stands if we can believe what he says about not serving under the Conservatives. I cannot accept Mandleson’s explanation that he would be “working for his country” Does anyone else?

Compare the moral fibre of Baroness Scotland, hanging on to office by her finger nails with that of Robin Cook, resigning over the Iraq war, or another man of principle, Frank Field, sidelined for daring to think the unthinkable, but which most ordinary thinking people happen to be just thinking, (except polititians, of course)

The British public is crying out for some burning conviction politics of Thatcher proportions in place of the current mess of self serving, politically correct rubbish that the whole of the public sector is now engaged in at the expense of the ever suffering tax payer. Where is it?
